Are You Enrolled in a DOT Consortium?
Individuals who are employed in a position designated as "safety sensitive" must be actively enrolled in a random drug and alcohol testing program. Oftentimes, covered employees will join a group of other DOT regulated employees in a random testing program and this is referred to as a DOT Consortium. Generally, an employer who has less than fifty employees or single operators will join the consortium which will comply with the random drug and alcohol testing requirements of 49 CFR Part 40. Employers that have over 50 employees who are regulated by Part 40 may elect to be enrolled in a "stand alone" random testing pool.
The DOT consortium is cost effective and complies with all requirements of 49 CFR Part 40 which mandates that all "safety sensitive" employees be enrolled in a random drug and alcohol testing program.
The Department of Transportation (DOT) has strict regulations requiring regulated companies and independent operators (CDL License Holders) to be an active member of a DOT drug and alcohol Consortium and failure to comply with these regulations can result in significant fines and other DOT sanctions.

Local Area Info: Riceboro, Georgia
As of the 2010 United States Census, there were 809 people residing in the city. The racial makeup of the city was 90.6% Black, 5.9% White, 0.1% Asian, 0.1% Pacific Islander and 1.6% from two or more races. 1.6% were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
As of the census of 2000, there were 736 people, 256 households, and 190 families residing in the city. The population density was 66.4 people per square mile (25.6/km²). There were 292 housing units at an average density of 26.3 per square mile (10.2/km²). The racial makeup of the city was 10.33% White and 88.72% African American.
There were 256 households out of which 32.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.5% were married couples living together, 21.1% had a female householder with no husband present, and 25.4% were non-families. 23.8% of all households were made up of individuals and 12.1% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.88 and the average family size was 3.42.
